My son's fifth grade teacher will be receiving a Vera Bradley book cover this Christmas...
The past few days have been unseasonably chilly here in northern Indiana, which has prompted me to start thinking about Christmas! I have been working on my shopping list, and I have just checked my son's fifth grade teacher off of my list. We (my son and I) have decided to give her a quilted Vera Bradley paperback book cover for Chistmas. I purchased it for a great price, so there is actually have enough left in my budget to also buy her a gift card to one of our local book stores.
I'm not sure if she shares my love for all things Vera. I have prodded my son to investigate, but as you can probably imagine, he is not the least bit interested. Oh well!
Fortunately, I do know that his teacher loves to read. We actually dicussed her passion for books a few weeks ago at my son's parent-teacher conferences. Based on this, even if she has never owned a Vera Bradley bag, I think one of their quilted book covers will be the perfect gift for her.
First, it's practical. It's something that I know she will use. I am guessing that she probably drags different books back and forth between home and school, and this gift idea will keep her favorite paperback books looking like new.
Second, it's personal. I appreciate all the hard work she puts in to teaching my fifth grader and his classmates (she does an excellent job!), and I wanted to give her a personal gift that reflects this appreciation.
Finally, it gives her some much-needed privacy. Fifth graders can be an inquisitive bunch. If she wants to keep the topic matter of her reading materials private, then she can tastefully do so with the Vera Bradley book cover.

I seem to have absolutely no problem coming up with ideas for the ladies on my list - it's coming up with original ideas for all the men on my list that causes me to pull my hair out!
