Lines, Prices, and Patterns at the 2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale

Hi everyone! Well, I survived the first day of the 2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale, although it did get off to a rocky start...

About Lines, Price Lists, and Scanners

I arrived exactly at 11:00 a.m. (start time for Session 2), but ended up having to wait an entire hour in the hallways before I could get in to shop. Last year, I was able to walk right in, but not this time. If I could do it again, I would try to get there an hour early, so I could shop the entire session time. Most people waiting in line were okay with the situation, but there were a handful of ladies that were noticeably fuming over the wait. I didn't get too upset, but I do think that if you have a ticket, you shouldn't have to wait that long. I know they sold at least 1,000 more tickets per session this year, so I think that had something to do with the wait.

2012 Vera Bradley Outlet SaleI didn't buy anything - not one single thing! Can you believe that? It's poor planning on my fault. My boys had early dismissal from school today at 2:00, and since I got into the sale late, there really wasn't enough time to shop and to wait in line to check out. Oh well, I guess it just means I will have more money to spend this weekend! [Read more...]

2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale Price List

My shopping session is scheduled for later today, but I went up to the Coliseum this morning to pick up a copy of the 2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale price list.  Anyway, here it is...

HINT: I don't think it's possible to see anything on the little picture above, but if you click on the image, it will take you to a larger version that's much easier to read! :)

Each year, the sale is a little different, and this year, it appears the price list received a makeover. Unfortunately, it is not nearly as detailed as prior sales, with products being categorized together and a range of prices given, instead of details for each style. [Read more...]

2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale Ticket Information

It's that time of year again -- the 2012 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale is just around the corner! Tickets for those who want to attend the first three days of the sale (April 11, 12 & 13) will be available starting February 1, 2012.

Not much has changed since last year. Tickets are once again $5.00 per session and will be available through Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Allen County Coliseum ticket office. As a side note, if you purchase your passes through Ticketmaster, be prepared for their fees! Last year Ticketmaster's convenience charges and processing fees practically doubled the price of the tickets that I purchased. (UPDATE: I have now purchased my ticket for the Wednesday session, and Ticketmaster's "convenience" and processing charges added $7.00 to the price of the ticket - Ugh!)

If you do not want to purchase tickets, you can still attend during the weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday (April 14 & 15).

Tickets are required to attend the sale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (April 11-13, 2011). There are four session times on each day, with 4000 tickets available for each session. Last year, there were 3000 tickets for each session, so expect slightly larger crowds this year. [Read more...]

New Vera Bradley iPod App

The other day I saw a Facebook post on Vera Bradley's wall about their new iPod catalog app:

Looking to do some holiday shopping tonight? We're excited to launch our new iPad catalog app, available now in the iTunes App Store!

Read reviews, get customer ratings, see screenshots, and learn more about Vera Bradley iCatalog on the App Store. Download Vera Bradley iCatalog and enjoy it on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Well, I don't have an iPad, but I do have the iPhone. Being the fan that I am, I immediately hopped on my phone and did a search in the app store for the new Vera Bradley app.  Unfortunately, nothing came back! [Read more...]

The Vera Bradley Good Book Cover is Back!

The Vera Bradley Good Book Cover was retired a few years ago, despite being a very popular item.  However, there is good news for those who missed it - it's back!  According to the description on the Vera Bradley website, this zip around case can be used to "tote your favorite classic or the latest bestseller". Unfortunately, the description left out the only "Good Book" I had in mind - the Bible!

The dimensions of this cover are 10-1/4" x 7-1/2" x 2".  It sounded as if it may be big enough, but I had to pull out my ruler and make sure.  The dimensions of my Bible are 9-1/2" x 7" x 1-3/4".  I think it will fit! [Read more...]

Higher Vera Bradley Prices Starting in July

I hate to be the one to bring bad news, but starting in July 2011, prices on all Vera Bradley products are set to rise five percent.  According to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, "company executives said they plan a 5 percent increase in prices with the fall collection, which will be released July 7."  According to the article, "older patterns will be 'retagged' at that time, too, in line with the price increase."  Here is a link to the full article:

Although the company's net revenues were up in the first quarter, its net income was down, due to an increase in the amount of income tax it paid ($200,000 this quarter last year compared to $7.5 million this year - ouch!).  I am no tax expert, but I can't help to wonder if all this has something to do with the company recently taking its stock public.   [Read more...]

Final Markdowns at the 2011 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale

Hi everyone!  I have had a few people send me emails and ask me questions here regarding what the prices and selection were like on the last day of the 2011 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale.  I took some notes when I was there Sunday afternoon, and I have posted them below for you to look over.  Of course, it's too late for this year, but it might be helpful for next year.

Also, my notes are a little rough, and I'm sure I missed some patterns when I was jotting things down.  They actually had a lot more than what you see listed here, but I had my six year old with me, and he got a little impatient with me (poor kid!).  Because of that, I do not have any information here regarding the selection and prices for the stationary and specialty lines, such as the microfiber and frill.

It was easy in and easy out Sunday afternoon.  We had no wait to get inside the sale, and surprisingly, there was also no wait to check out!  Overall, from my own experiences and from what I have heard from others, the 2011 sale ran much smoother than last year. [Read more...]

General Admission Days at the 2011 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale

It's Friday!!!  Today is the first general admission day of the 2011 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale!  No tickets are needed to enter the sale today, nor are they needed on Saturday or Sunday.

The first two days of the sale went smoothly, but that's no surprise, seeing that admission was limited to 3,000 ticket holders per shopping session.

A lot of people (me included!) have been wondering what these final three days of the sale will be like, and really, it just depends on how many people show up to shop.  For safety reasons, the number of people allowed into the shopping area is limited.  Once they hit the cap, the wait begins.  Wear comfortable shoes, bring a bottle of water and a snack, pack an umbrella (there's rain in the forecast for Friday & Saturday).  It's much easier to tolerate the long lines if you're prepared. Outlet Sale Giveaway #2: A Vera Bradley Mailbag

Thanks to all who entered the giveaway for the Vera Bradley Mailbag! Comments are now closed, and the winner has been selected.

I have another giveaway for all of you!  This time it's a Vera Bradley Mailbag in Hello Dahlia.  The Mailbag retails for $68.00, but I got it for $35.99 at the outlet sale (almost half off!).

This style is one of my favorites (I know, I say that about all of them, don't I!).  The front flap has a long zippered pocket and stays closed with magnets.  Under the flap, there's another zippered pocket.  Open it up to find slip pockets and four credit card sized slots.  The interior compartment has a zipper closure and three more slip pockets.  The strap is adjustable. Here is a picture...

This bag is roomy and the interior compartment is deep. It can be used for many versatile purposes.  If I return to the outlet sale this weekend, I plan to pick up a few more of this style for my nieces - I think these make the perfect book bags for school.  It could also be used as a tote for netbooks or smaller laptops, or even as a compact diaper bag.

Anyway, I think I have rambled on long enough!  You probably want to know how to enter to win it, don't you?  Here are the rules: [Read more...]
