What Do You Think About the New Vera Bradley Pleated Tote?

I'm just curious what others think of the new Vera Bradley Pleated Tote.  Of the new fall 2009 styles, this is THE bag for me.  I love it!  However, I have to confess I always go for the larger bags - and at 14¾” x 14” x 5¼”, this one is big.  One of these days I will probably get a lecture from my chiropractor, but as a mother, there are just too many things that I can't leave home without!  I can fit everything I need (and want!) to carry in this bag.

However, in addition to its size, there are a few other reasons why this tote receives my vote for the best bag of 2009: [Read more...]

Discount Fabric Handbags Has a New Look!

Hi all!  If you are a repeat visitor, you probably noticed that Discount Fabric Handbags has an entirely different look!

I have been busy most of this weekend upgrading everything and installing a new template that I hope will prove to be more visitor friendly.  You can access both the shopping side (where you can find all the best Vera Bradley deals) and the blog side (where we like to chit chat about everything Vera Bradley - and then some) from the same screen.  Before, if you landed on the shopping side, there's a good chance you would have missed the blog, and vice versa...

The only problem that I encountered is with the polls widget plugin.  For some reason, it doesn't want to work in the sidebar, where I normally like to have it so it is easily accessible.  However, I think polls are a lot of fun and love having them on this site, so until I figure out a fix, polls can be found within the actual posts.  Find the current poll, which ends midnight July 31 and is entitled "Think Like a Vera Bradley Products Designer", here.

For me, it has a been a very busy weekend.  I am not much of a "techie", so any time I make major changes to a site, it probably takes me ten times longer the average webmaster.  In that regard, I am going to keep this post short and call it a night. However, I will be back to chit chit with you all very soon. :-)

Fall 2008 Vera Bradley Fabrics

I just finished reading a post on Vera Bradley's Facebook page regarding the new fall 2008 fabrics.  Ok, so you may be thinking to yourself...

"We just wrapped up Memorial Day weekend, the kickoff to summertime activities.  The last thing I want to hear about is what's coming out this fall!"

I initially thought that too, but I'm just not good at keeping things to myself.  So what the heck, here's what you can expect to see from the Vera Bradley company in just a few more months...

Night Owl - This is a blue and black pattern.  I don't know much more, but I'm guessing by its name that it will be dark tones.

Puccini - This Fall 2008 Vera Bradley fabric is brown and dark orange.   Not exactly my taste in colors, but we'll have to see...

Caffe Latte - If this one lives up to its name, I'm going to love it!  From what I hear, it has shades of browns, creams and tans.

Frankly Scarlet - A little spin on Gone with the Wind, me thinks?  I have heard this red pattern described as "gothic".  Interesting, huh?

At this point, that's all I know.  If I can get my hands on some pics, you can bet that I will post them here.  I am going to check with my local Vera Bradley retail store - it seems to me that's where most of the Facebook members received their sneak peek.

UPDATE ON JUNE 19, 2008:

Hopefully by now everyone has seen pics of the new fall styles.  I just returned from my local Vera Bradley retail store, and I have to agree with Amy (see comments below), the fabrics are a lot better in person!  My two favorites are the Puccini and the Night Owl.

I took my camera with me - I wanted to get a few pictures to post here.  However, wouldn't you know it, my camera batteries were dead!  I considered running over to Walgreens to get some replacements, but my three year old had other plans. (I think he polished off my cup of coffee this morning when I wasn't looking.  Not really, but that's what I told the ladies at the VB store.  They tried to force a smile, but by the way they kept glancing at the door, I got the feeling they were anxiously waiting for us to leave!)   Anyway, we had to call it a day and go home for a nap...
