Will Vera Bradley Slate Blooms Replace Java Blue?

Have you noticed that the new Vera Bradley Slate Blooms pattern, which was introduced with the fall 2010 styles, has a similar color scheme to Java Blue?  There's been some chatter on Facebook and on other online message boards that this new fabric just might replace the longstanding and much-loved Java Blue.  What do you think?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say not just yet!  I wish they didn't have to retire any pattern - although I know it's necessary to make way for the new styles, I really hate to see any of them go.  But fortunately, Java Blue is now available in the newer styles, including the Metropolitan, the Side by Side Tote, the Julia Handbag, and the redesigned Hipster.

Of course, the true test is forthcoming.  It could be that they want to see how the Vera Bradley Slate Blooms pattern is received by the public (that's us!).  Although I do like Slate Blooms, and I'm sure a few pieces will end up in my closet within the next few months, I'm not ready to let go of the older pattern just yet.  I guess it's just one of those things that we will have to wait and see...

    I have been over Java Blue for some time now even though I really loved it at first. This pattern is okay but I think Java Blue was so popular because of the contrast between the teal and brown… this slate color just doesn’t have that contrast.
