What's in a name? I am always intrigued by the names of the Vera Bradley prints and bags, which got me to wondering where the term "carnaby" originated. You may already know, but for those of you who do not, here is what I found...
Carnaby Street, a three block long area located in the Soho district of London, is synonymous with shopping and fashion. It became a favorite destination of fashion mavens during the 1960s, with boutiques offering both mod and hippie style clothing and accessories. Members of The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and The Who, were commonly sighted in this area, as they made their way to the nearby Marquee Club to perform. To this day, it is still considered one of the "must visit" shopping destinations in the U.K.
The Vera Bradley Carnaby pattern mirrors the fashionable district it is named after. Although it may remind you of the vintage fabrics that were popular in the 1960s, this print has timeless appeal that will be in style for years to come.
